It’s Time to Decriminalize Marijuana

Building on a once quiet Internet buzz, a bill introduced in the House of Representatives on April 17, 2008, is gaining momentum as the 2008 presidential election nears. The bill, H.R. 5843, was introduced by representatives Barney Frank and Ron Paul. It’s aim: To reduce penalties for marijuana possession.

NORML Busted Video Contest Introduced as H.R. 5843, an “Act to Remove Federal Penalties for Personal Use of Marijuana by Responsible Adults,” the bill will essentially decriminalize the possession of small amounts of marijuana.

CNN reported that the response for this bill has been overwhelming. The majority of respondents have been in support. Nearly no support has been expressed for continuing with marijuana prohibition as it stands today in the United States.
