People vs. Business

In two stories today, Florida’s blue-shocked governor, Charlie Crist, made clear his alliance.  The current administration plans to take $190 million from the people and give $10 million to business.  What in the world has happened to free market enterprise, capitalism, and a government for the people?

$190 Million Cut from People Program
In a plan to plug Florida’s $2.6 billion budget deficit, Florida’s legislative leaders decided to sweep $190 million from the state’s affordable housing trust funds. The Legislature is expected to vote on the budget package on Wednesday, January 14, 2008.

$10 Million Added to Business Program
On Friday, January 16, 2008, it is expected that the Senate will pass Crist’s $10 million experimental program, known as “economic gardening.”  The program is designed to encourage business expansion with low-interest loans.
