Ironic how Cheney figuratively hangs himself, like Hussein, as he prepares for life in Maximum Security, where criminals, dangerous to society, go, and where he may cross paths with former Gitmo prisoners.  America no longer tortures, no longer kills.  Americans can now mercilessly sentence Cheney to life behind bars, so he can learn empathy first-hand, so he can feel the pain he created in so many millions of human beings, from the start of the Iraq war to us to future generations.  We will lose our future until humanity is found on Earth.  Peace.

Why I’d Never Buy a Chrysler

I filed for bankruptcy and told it would take a minimum of 90 days and I would lose everything.  Chrysler may get their bankruptcy in 30 days and it would provide them a foundation for future success:  business success; human failure.  Why is Chrysler more important than me?

Crist Should Listen to ACORN

To Wells Fargo, my lender, my dream-killer:

I am in the process of losing my primary home, my only home.  I contacted my lender before I defaulted on my first payment and they refused to talk to me.  I tried again when I realized that my home was worth less than the mortgage I owed.

They still refused to talk to me.  Now I’m filing bankruptcy to liquidate what few assets I have.  When I go to court for my bankruptcy, I will be asking for a cram-down, because had my lender talked to me before I defaulted, they’d be getting payments in full by now, and I would be able to keep my home.

I support ACORN and wish to see the spread of the Philadelphia miracle.  By requiring lenders seeking a foreclosure to sit down with distressed homeowners and mediate a resolution, the Philadelphia Foreclosure Diversion Program has succeeded in keeping 78% of families in their homes.

I am certain if it existed in Florida, I would be able to save my home and my lender would be able to take my property off their REO list in the future.

NAR, FAR, OSCAR: They’re all part of the group that calls itself REALTORS, a trade association, which seems to claim that all REALTORS think that business should have more power than people.  After reading their press release below, what do you think.  Is FAR a trade association or a political action committee?

“Hometown Democracy opponents align to fight unwieldy amendment

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – April 29, 2009 – Hundreds of Florida groups have joined together to oppose the proposed Hometown Democracy amendment, which would disallow any land use change unless a majority of citizens voted for it. Supporters include an alliance of groups that many times disagree on other issues.

The proposed Hometown Democracy amendment failed to get enough voter signatures to appear on the 2004, 2006 or 2008 ballot. However, “Hometown Democracy backers are once again bankrolling paid petition-gathering efforts, which should enable them to reach the ballot in the near future,” says Adam
 Adam E. Babington with the 
Legislative Counsel
 of the Florida Chamber of Commerce.

“In the last four years alone, this amendment would have required an average of over 10,599 additional local votes per year in Florida,” says Babington. “In fact, in 2007 alone in Carrabelle, a small town in Franklin County, voters would have decided 840 separate ballot questions.”

Since 2007, Florida’s business community has come together under the banner of Floridians for Smarter Growth (FSG) – an ongoing campaign designed to educate Floridians on the consequences of Hometown Democracy.
As one of the group participants, the Florida Association of Realtors steadfastly opposes the proposed amendment.

Crist & Friends: Get Off Your Asses!

It seems to me that those responsible for getting the budget done have no idea what is happening to Floridians.  Obama was right to recommend that banks stop foreclosures for two months.  Now that banks are foreclosing again in Florida, though, it seems our leadership have been reduced to a bunch of giddy, dumb blondes (with tans).

To the leadership of Florida: What you will see this year is a second wave of foreclosures starting in or about June.  If you do not do something about this now, this coming August will be known as the dogs days of our worsening pandemic, economic depression.

The "Puff’em Petition" Lights up Floridians

As is the speed of sound, a petition to legalize medicinal marijuana in Florida is on the table and word of it is moving like wildfire. Threatening the conservative right and, no doubt, Charlie Crist, the People United for Medical Marijuana (PUFMM) are working on presenting a petition and are actively looking for volunteers and marketing to keep getting the word out.   Tanya Boone, a Kissimmee resident called it :

“Florida’s number one industry is agriculture. Now, we’re on board with Barack Obama’s plan to green our economy but not when he laughs about an issue that makes sense to so many Americans, many who’ve lost their so-called right to vote, like here in Florida! Bennett’s Modern Czaring

In another attempted assault on the poor, Florida Republican party senator Bill Bennett wants the unemployed drug-tested.  Bennett: Put your foot where your mouth is. 

Be the first in line and take a drug test and make that record public. To be fair, the drug test must include all drugs: alcohol, tobacco, prescription drugs, poppy bagels, etc.  Bennett was George Bush’s first Drug Czar.

The Arrogant Case of Brad Pitt

I can’t take it anymore.  I don’t normally go for imposing higher taxes but I would wholeheartedly agree with taxing all financial, oil, and Hollywood industries. (Brad Pitt’s movie, The Curious Case of Benjamin Button was produced with Louisiana taxpayer money.)  It’s time to force the rich to return money provided to them on the backs of the poor with interest.

Brad Pitt’s tax break.  Pitt maintains a home with Angelina Jolie in the French Quarter of New Orleans, and has spearheaded a home development plan to help rebuild the devastated ninth ward of the city.  Last year Pitt took advantage of a meeting of the Clinton Global Initiative by announcing a new 150-Home Sustainable Community in New Orleans’ Lower Ninth Ward. Pitt partnered with real-estate developer and philanthropist Steve Bing as part of his “Make It Right” project.   Pitt pledged to match $5 million in contributions to the project.
